Comparative Judgement is an innovative way of assessing writing offered by No More Marking, which is currently used by 2,000 schools in the UK, the US and Australia. Comparative judgement is a process where judges (normally teachers) compare two responses and decide which is better. Research has shown the process to be as reliable as double marking, but much quicker.
This webinar explains how comparative judgement works in practice, how it is different from traditional forms of marking, and why it can be such a valuable approach to assessing and improving writing in schools. It also covers how No More Marking’s national and international writing assessments work and how to interpret the results from a comparative judgement assessment.
Daisy Christodoulou is Director of Education at No More Marking. She works closely with schools in the UK, Australia and USA on developing new approaches to assessing and teaching writing. She previously was Head of Assessment at Ark Schools, a network of academy schools, and has also taught English in two London comprehensives and has been part of UK government commissions on the future of teacher training and assessment.
