Early childhood leadership is incredibly challenging but also exciting. It is primarily focused on supporting and encouraging individual teachers to work together to make a difference for children.
Lorraine Manuela, former Director at Tots Corner ELC, and Celeste Harrington from Te Wānanga Aronui o Tāmaki Makau Rau | Auckland University of Technology bring their wealth of knowledge and experience to discuss the many aspects of leadership in early childhood education. Both have considerable experience in leadership roles in early childhood centres and explore what leadership means in early childhood education, building relationships, how to support teams to work effectively together, and the importance of pedagogical leadership.
Lorraine Manuela taught in the primary and early childhood sector for many years, working with children and teachers in a number of professional roles. Most recently she was the Director of Tots Corner ELC. She is also the Reggio Children International Network Representative for REANZ.
Celeste Harrington is a lecturer in early childhood education at Te Wānanga Aronui o Tāmaki Makau Rau | Auckland University of Technology.
