The ability to regulate our emotions is a skill we all require. In this webinar, Dr Tracy Stewart from The UNiversity of Edinburgh explores what is meant by emotional regulation and dysregulation, and discusses practical strategies that teachers can use to support the positive development of their students’ emotion regulation skills. She also covers how to provide appropriate support in the moment for students who are emotionally dysregulated.

About the presenter

Dr Tracy Stewart

Dr Tracy Stewart is a lecturer and psychologist in the School of Education and Sport at the University of Edinburgh. Her research expertise is in understanding the development and maintenance of cognitive and emotional factors that give rise to clinical and pre-clinical symptoms across childhood and adolescence, mainly depression and anxiety. She helped to develop recommendations to the Scottish Parliament on the health and wellbeing of children and young people in Scotland, and is currently working on developing resources for teachers to support emotion regulation directly in their routine teaching tasks.
