Understanding and supporting children’s movement and development

Children need to be engaged in different types of movement and physical activities. This webinar explores the so-called ‘kinetic scale’, which outlines the range of different types of movement patterns (balance, sensory processing, proprioception, power, coordination, and control) young children need to engage with to support their holistic development.

Gill Connell discusses why it is important for children to have a well-balanced ‘diet’ of movement opportunities and how early childhood and early primary teachers can provide activities and opportunities for children to engage in different types of movement.
