About the presenters

Jean Rockel

Jean Rockel is an honorary academic at the Faculty of Education and Social Work, Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland. She is a passionate advocate for the rights of very young children to early learning. She was involved in researching Pedagogies of Care for teachers of one-year-olds, an international project with researchers from the United Kingdom, United States, Hong Kong, and New Zealand. In 2015, Jean Rockel received a Queen’s Service Medal for services to early childhood education.

Lorraine Manuela

Lorraine Manuela taught in the primary and early childhood sector for many years, working with children and teachers in a number of professional roles. Most recently she was the Director of Tots Corner ELC. She is also the Reggio Children International Network Representative for REANZ.
