Unschooling and self-directed education

Naomi Fisher

COMING UP:

Thursday June 8
7.30PM (NZST)

This webinar will focus on the concept of unschooling, an approach to self-directed education, which puts children in control of their learning. It will explore questions related to how children learn as they progress through childhood and adolescence, the role of motivation and environment in shaping learning, neurodiversity, the structure and aims of the current schooling system, and whether a self-directed approach to education can build the knowledge and competencies young people need to thrive, and whether it can do this for all children.

We will be joined by Dr Naomi Fisher, a clinical psychologist and EMDR consultant specialising in response to trauma. She works with adults and children, including those with diagnoses of special educational needs. She has hands-on experience raising two children as self-directed learners and is the author of the book Changing our minds; How children can take control of their own learning.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. A recording of this webinar will be posted on this page after the session.
