SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING & MATHS
STEM Online NZ is a free interactive teaching and learning resource for NCEA external achievement standards in mathematics and physics subjects (and soon in Chemistry). It is designed specifically for New Zealand teachers and students by subject-specialist classroom teachers. It can be used by teachers to support whole class teaching (face-to-face, blended, or online), and by students working independently or as a class in face-to-face, blended or online settings
The resources are based on research-informed learning design principles. They combine interactive learning content, videos, animations, quizzes, game-based content, as well as classroom experiments and activities, all with a distinctly kiwi flavour and fully aligned to NCEA achievement standard requirements. Two University of Auckland students present each module, they appear in the videos and in avatar form, taking the students on a learning journey through the resource and offering encouragement and advice. The work has been funded by the University of Auckland and a philanthropic donor.
The STEM Online NZ team has also produced similar learning resources for the Ministry of Education to support teaching and learning in Digital Technologies.Click on download pdf for an overview of the resources and registration details.
