Covid has definitely been a big barrier in parent/teacher relationships as they haven’t been able to come inside. Working with infants, this has been incredibly hard to see new parents have to hand their baby over to someone they’ve just met! I managed to sway our workplace to allow parents a visit if they were outside and wearing a mask (as they would have been able to be this close if we met them at the park or supermarket etc). This did help some parents anxious feelings, but not all! We are now allowing parents in but policy is they have to wear a mask and stay 1m away from all other children which is also rather difficult! But being able to come in and see our walls, and being able to see what they’re child has been doing is really helping rebuild or build our relationships.
