Parents have at least three pre-visits before their child starts the centre, and this is a great opportunity to get to know each other and share each other’s beliefs, values, and practices about child-caring and education. Every child has a primary teacher when they start, and we believe this system enables parents to feel welcome, comfortable, and have a sense of belonging in a new environment, which ultimately supports their child’s smooth transitioning. We welcome parents to give us a call to ask any questions or discuss any concerns during the day, and we teachers also update how their children’s doing if the drop off was a bit challenging, for example. We feel parents always appreciate that we care for both parents and their children and keep them in a loop. As many mentioned above, we also communicate with parents via an online blog, communication books, emails, one-on-one meetings, events, etc. Every family has their preference for how they want to build partnerships with teachers, I guess.
