We are limited right now with parent partnerships with the Covid red light and having bubbles to limit the spread. However, we are maintaining small conversations with parents for drop-offs and pick ups and through online exchanges of photo documentation and evidence on Educa. There is a creation of trust and there are daily exchanges of eating, sleeping of behaviour. I believe we have developed a sense of mutuality of shared goals, attitudes and values that we extend to the parents based upon being key teachers and as a teaching team. The parents are able to experience what their child’s progress is, how competent they are, and whether or not they are self-motivated and finding new skills. We do have common ground, co-responsibilities, and the protecting of the parents’ aspirations. We know how strong our partnerships with parents are when we see the children are interacting with a play-based pedagogy in a calm and comfortable way, that mirrors the adult relationships are on the same page and allowing for a rich experience from each child.
